Marshall, Tx Depot Best looking small town depot that I have ever seen. Was the junction of the Iron Mountain & St Louis R.R. & the Texas & Pacific R.R

Mineola, Tx. This town saved the Texas Eagle & now they are remodeling the depot & have put in a pavillion to do train watching.

Great pictures Dave! I love seeing the old depots. I have to get one of the old Rock Island Depot in Utica. I'm always going past it and just never think about it. It's like, it's there and you just take it for granted. One of these days it will be gone and I will wish I had taken a picture of it.

Butch; I was shocked that the Chenoa Depot has not been torn down or vandalized. Next time I am there, I am going to try & find out how to get inside. I wish Chenoa would do something to fix up the Depot. Shame of it all is that this depot has been this way since the 1950's! Dwight uses their depot for City offices, for some reason, it lost out on being the AMTRAK stop in this area to Pontiac. That was the best shot I could get. The rest of the Pontiac depot has been melded into a sleazy restaurant that may.. or..may not be.. in business. My favorite is L.A. Union Depot. Nice breeze, huge leather seats to wait in & the people watching was off the scale!! Then Chicago Union station. It has the "Metropolitan Lounge for all passengers going first class (i.e. having booked a room.) The Metropolitan Lounge has free soft drinks, big leather chairs, baggage check in, electric cart rides to your car. Just a first rate, first class, deal all together. Next were the two Union stations in Toronto & Vancouver. One had a McD's & a Starbucks knock off. Huge halls to wait for trains. I also like Union Station in Dallas. Totally restored back in the 70's. It has AMTRAK, DART (electric trolley light rail.) & Trinity Rail Express ( A heavy push-pull commuter rail to Ft. Worth.) At the bottom of my list is the depots that were ignored. Buffalo N.Y. Union Terminal - Just a huge complex that sits in the middle of no where, just rotting away. St. Louis Union Station. It was converted into a convention hall & they finally built a pissant brick AMTRAK station to take it's place. Finally, The old Texas & Pacific Station/home office. This is a 15 story Art Deco building @ the exterior fringes of down town Ft. Worth. I hope they are fixing it up ........as I have heard rumors. Penn Station NYC. It is all underground sitting below Madison Square Garden. You don't want to show up there looking for a cab right after a sporting event there. Last of all Seattle's AMTRAK station. (King station or Union Station?) The good part is that they are rehabbing it back to it's original splendor. Like NYC, you don't want to get in just after a sporting event. They Razed the King Dome & built two sporting stadiums. The train station is situated off in a corner where if there is any traffic from the stadiums, you will wait long & hard for a cab. -Dave
