I was driving a van full of little kids around today, ages 2 - 8. We had time to kill before school started. They were wanting to see if Grace United Methodist was being torn down yet because when the former Wagner Funeral Home was torn down last week we watched it (from the van). I started talking to the kids about all of the buildings that had been torn down over the decades.
I promised them that today I would download pictures of buildings that once stood in town, we'd put them on a disc, play them on the laptop as we drove around town tomorrow and I pointed out where they stood. They are SO EXCITED!!! I'll let you know some of their reactions tomorrow.

In the book, La Salle County Lore, they published a "land cruise" of Streator. Streator covers about 6-8 pages, including pictures, map and driving directions for a fairly complete tour of our town. It starts out coming in from the west/Kangley. The Museum and I think the library have a copy. Joanie

Thank you! I'll go see if the library does and we'll go on another tour.
