I remember when that burned down. I lived a few blks. N & E, but didn't go there to watch. The whole neighborhood was filled with black smoke, and the smell was horrble! I could only go around our own blk. and down to Hansons, returning pop bottles for penny candy, with permission.

I drove by yesterday. Yup it is Omars. I got to enjoy Salada's down the street not too long ago. They had fresh peanuts on the bar & I kept putting the shells there. Finally the bartender said "Throw'em on the floor. I have to sweep it anyway before we close." LOL I have never been to a place that encourages you to throw your nuts or what is left of them on the floor............. -Dave

Lone Star Steakhouse does that too, Dave. So does Texas Roadhouse in Peoria. And also Lou's La Grotto Pizza in Peru.

I can post any aerial view you want. Just ask. I have always loved John's photos, but if you can come up with some different shots, I have a request. A shot of the river, and the bottoms of the river: the area west of Bloomington Street, between Sixth Street and Wilson Street.

How do you expect to see photos when I can't insert them? I don't have access to the insertion process as the host does. Anyone can see these types of photos if you use Bing.com/maps. I have a browser that allows me to section off pieces of photos and use them fr future reference. It may be a little different, but it is Avant browser. Many options are included with this browser. It allows a user to section off a piece of a photo on a website to keep in a file.

The site mentioned above, Bing.com/maps, is by far the best aerial photo site I have ever seen. It shows our house in either late Spring or early Summer of this year. It really shows the wooded area surrounding our house. I can't figure out how to cut and paste photos from it, however.

Omars is too far away for me. I have a place I can stumble home to in a drunkin stupor. OR better yet, drive my bicycle over to for Tenderlion Tuesdays. YUM. -DD
