I have to show you all this cool bit of Streator History here that I found. Do any of you know any information on this local Coal Miners Union # 800 here? Just curious................... Kay.

Aww thanks M3 I think its a pretty cool historical item too but one that I would never sell since I promised my dad years ago that upon his passing I would try to hold onto and keep all Streator history related items....... for the most part unless I have duplicate items then. More then likely when my hubby and I are gone these items will be donated then to the historical society in which I have talked to Pat there already about several items. We have one of Streator's first coal cars too here in the backyard and the rails for it. Granted these WILL stay in this town as rightfully they should.................. M

Some of you may know that my mother passed away last December. Being born and raised on Johnson Street in Painter's Addition, she was a wealth of information for me, especially on Painter's Addition. We have been going through many of her things and have found numerous deeds for lots in Painter's Addition that my grandfather had purchased. Among some of the items I came across was my grandfather's coal miner certificate. I also found the blueprints for the layout of the mine that he owned out by Mackey Cemetery and the deed for the property.
