You were there? Bella came right up to me @ the falls and her owner said she never goes up to someone ands sits or lets them pet her. We became friends instantly. Nice video! Thanks! You're very welcome again!

There have been some new winter photos posted to the Spring Lake website. It is surprising how many people are using the park in the cold weather. However, it is very beautiful with snow on the ground. www.springlakefalls.org

Spring Lake Park is in need of volunteers to join the Host Program. Hosts give two hours a week to greet visitors to the park, give directions, answer questions, and see that city ordinances are followed. The host program is designed to change the culture of the park so that it is seen as a park for the enjoyment of nature. This program is critical to maintaining improvements that have been made to the park and will be in operation until risks to the park have been greatly reduced.
The Streator Police Department and the LaSalle County Sheriff’s Office both support the host program. Hosts wear an identification tag and use cell phones for communications. If you serve with a partner, you may wish to take two two-hour shifts and have company while you sit in your lawn chair or wander the trails for four hours.
Thirty shifts need to be covered. Both afternoon and evening shifts are available. Also the Saturday 11:00 - 1:00 shift is open. Please phone Lois Guyon at 815 343-3774 to volunteer

Spring Lake friends,
The date has been set for the planting of the trees from the Jimmy F New Foundation. We will meet at the park at [glow=green,2,300]9:00 AM on Saturday, May 10, 2008.[/glow] At least two of the J F New employees are coming to town to help us plant the 350 (small) trees. I have invited the city officials (not necessarily to plant), and the press will be alerted. Bring a spade, hand trowel, and a couple of friends. If we get enough people, this should not be a bad job. For those of you who are unable to do physical work, come out to encourage the diggers and have some social time. As always, we will have fun working together. Joe Reed will be directing the crews and telling us what to plant where and how to plant without killing the trees.
We still have [glow=green,2,300]openings[/glow] for people to serve as [glow=green,2,300]hosts.[/glow] If you know anyone who is capable of sitting for a couple of hours in a lawn chair, have them give me a call at 815 343-3774. How else can you serve your community by sitting on a bench?
A member has found some black plastic barrels. As soon as he gets them to the park, [glow=green,2,300]we will be needing a “few good men” to help him make the stepping stones over the big creek.[/glow]Give me a call to volunteer. This will be a job for owners of knee high boots.

Tomorrow's the day! Come on out! Mingle & work with others, enjoying the fresh air. These are small trees and wild grass seeds, you should only need hand/garden spades

We have two slots not filled on the Host schedule. We need someone from 1-3 and again from 5-7 on Saturdays.
Saturday is a heavy use day and should be covered.
Is there anyone you know who would be willing to give the park two hours a week?
