Thanks! I was there. Why the surprised look? You didn't say Hi.... That's so nice of you Butch! Doesn't it give you a warm fuzzy feeling to see the surprise and admiration on their faces? Our own little eden, here in Streator.

You didn't say Hi.... I'm sorry! Have we met before? No, but it would've been a good time to do so...

DD, Thanks for the introduction, but BS-7 and I "met" each other years ago on the local message boards. When I said, "Have we met before?", I meant in such a way that I should have recognized her (and said "Hi") at the dedication.

Sorry, I saw two people with cameras. One appeared to be from the news media. The other looked a lot like Butch, and the Bella petters were plentiful!

...Here I thought I was special, Bella was passing out the Love then? You are special, but I'm afraid Bella was "passing out the Love"! In the last part of that video, you can see a lady in a red jacket stroll right over and start petting her.

There is exciting news. Spring Lake has a web site. A couple from Kansas City visited the park and volunteered to purchase, setup, and maintain a website. The park was also visited by a man with Streator connections who lives in Arizona. He is a photographer who gave us some of the wonderful photos used on the site. Check it out. www.springlakefalls.org You may notice an issue about the names of the creeks. We have conducted a fair amount of research on the names and find that every creek in that area has been called by the name of every other creek at some point in history starting back in the 1800s. The local “old-timers” said that the creek coming from Kangley (the small creek in the park) was called Egg Bag. This is due to sulfur content in the water making it smell bad. The one coming across the Kangley road and dumping into the one coming into the park was called Eagle Creek because it comes through Eagle Township. The one coming up from the south, crossing Hw 18, across the Moon property, and then through the park was called Moon Creek. There are maps dating back to the 1800s, each having different names for the creeks. The "old-timers" explanation seems most logical to us, so when we did the narratives about the park, we used their designation . At some point we will get some signs up at the park identifying the creeks.
