Butch,
Very nice place you've got here! I'm looking forward to spending time in this neighborhood.
Jess
ps: I noticed on my first post that quoted text is really tiny. Would you consider enlarging that default a bit, if possible?

Welcome Jess! Very glad to have you here in our little "rural village". Next to the other Streator forums, we are like Wilsman, we are here but few people know about us. Every once in awhile someone passes through. I will see if it's possible to enlarge the text, never really tried. Or you could just be like me and admit your age and put on those darn reading glasses! I guess most people visiting here are in the "reading glasses" age bracket so I hope I can change the text size. ____________________________________________ UpdateJess, I do not see any way of enlarging the text on quotes.

Butch, Thanks for trying. I think I'll just bypass the quote function. Jess

I went to 'help' and couldn't make sense of any leads on my problem there, so here I am. I have tried to register and am not allowed to, can any of you explain this to me? I hadn't entered a password just my name, but there seems to be an error and I don't know how to correct it. Thanks for any help you may have. I have posted before as 'guest' and can continue to do so I suppose, just thought it supportive to register.

Hello Eva, When you register, you must give a valid Email address. You are then sent a Welcome Letter with a password that you must use to initially log in. Once logged in, you may go to your profiles and change your password. Also remember that all logins are case sensitive. Hope this helps, if not, please feel free to Email me and I will assist you in registering. Thank You kindly, Butch

Thank you Butch. I did enter a valid e-mail account, so I don't know what the problem could be. I will wait for Mr. R. to return and maybe over the weekend he can help me to register.
I appreciate the effort that has gone into this site.
Respectfully, Eva

Welcome, Eva. Here are some situations and solutions I've encountered in helping others get registered and profiled correctly with ProBoards' forums (including Streatorland, Streator Online, and Ottawa Unscensored <-- The latter word is Scott's (OU's webbie) preferred spelling ). (1) Depending upon the use and training of an antispam software intercept, the reply e-mail may have indeed arrived, yet been interpreted as spam (unwanted e-mail) and stored in a spam folder. Please check your spam folder for the responding e-mail. (2) Also, I have seen some delays at times when people register on ProBoards. The confirmation e-mail may be soon forthcoming. (3) Finally, ProBoards' display names (as with many boards) are profiled differently than login identifiers. For example, my login identifier may be "tiger", yet I configured my display name as "Tiger". Also, login identifiers and passwords are letter-case sensitive. Thus, when I log in to a board where I registered as "tiger", I cannot log in as "Tiger"; rather, I must enter "tiger". Once I've logged in as "tiger", however, my display name shows as "Tiger". I surely hope this information is of use to all potential registrants. It certainly can be a bit vexing, I know. Sincerely, Tiger

Thank you so much Tiger. At this point I have decided, for a couple of reasons, that I should just remain in the 'guest' position. Now that I know I can add my 'name' to the post, and take responsibility and 'the heat' for my comments.
Again, I appreciate the help from each of you.
Regards, Eva

I surely hope Eva reconsiders her reasons and chooses instead to register on this board. Unfortunately, with guests being able to choose their own names, any "guest" could post as Eva, even copying her manner and style of writing.
Registering with us and getting your own password helps ensure your comments are legitimately yours. I guess I'm speaking from experience on ProBoards' forums, where people with 15-month-old bitterness and spite dogged me, posting as "Tiger" ... well, little did they realize that the word "Guest" under the word "Tiger" was a dead give-a-way of their imposter status and poorly-veiled stalking nature.
It's sweet and clean when you can log in and feel assured your always-welcome comments are recognized as uniquely your own.
