Does anyone know if Church #2 has been converted to a home? On my last visit to Streator, it looked occupied.

The Holy Trinity Lutheran Church on Illinois Street has been purchased over the years to several different people. It is now used as an apartment. The Old Number Three Lutheran Church is still maintained by the congregation. The very first Lutheran Church here in Streator, IL. It is located on the south end of Streator on Church Street. Services are still held on special occasions at the church. The newest built Church, built around 1951-52 is the present Church out on East Main Street, Trinity Drive. Soon there will be an active web site for the Church and its congregation.

Was your sister baptized by Rev. John Daniel? He was my Grandpa and I was too young to remember him, but have been fortunate to have a collection of his pictures, sermons and newspaper articles during his 40 years at Holy Trinity. I was thrilled to find this website and would love to see a Holy Trinity website come about.

Yes she was, and I was confirmed by Rev. Daniel.

My brother-in-law, Tim Welch is hoping the Holy Trinity web site will be out soon. The site will be HolyTrinity.org I spoke to Tim about your interest in seeing the site. He told me to let you know if you have items of interest, photo's, or articles that could be added to the site, they would be appreciated. His e-mail is welch1@mchsi.com I only have a copy of the photo of Rev. Danial's with his wife, but it is very clear. If you would like the copy, I'd be glad to send it to you. You can contact me at belarusroots@yahoo.com Diana

Great! I will go through my things and make copies. Would love to see a History page for the website where people can view baptism, confirmation, marriage and death records/dates. A few Lutheran Churches in Chicago and St. Louis have that which has helped me with my own family tree. Church records seem to be a wonderful connection to our past. I should have stated that I didn't remember my Grandpa - not my Grandma who lived to be 97! Thanks for your help! Stephanie Daniel Bunton

I sent Pastor Gutz some pictures I had of my Grandparents along with some articles from the Times Press and told him to pass any along that he thought were appropriate for the Holy Trinity site. I have several church anniversary programs that have wonderful pictures in them, and I am sure your brother can use the ones in the church archives. My newspaper articles are either too big to scan or are falling apart since many are 60-80 years old, but the newspaper archive at Times-Press should be awesome for your use. The pictures and information in each article was written so well for the time period.

Thanks Daniel. I'm sure Pastor Gutz will get with my brother-in-law. Were all pretty excited about the upcoming site for the church.

The Holytrinity.org site is being used by a church in Texas. Do you know what the new Streator Holy Trinity website will be?

Where was St Paul's Lutheran Church located before it moved to the old Plumb Family Home location on Broadway?

My sister was the first baby that was baptized in the new church on East Main St. Hello John, Do you have some kind of record of your 'baby sister' for sure being the "first baptism" in the No. 2 church? I sure wish I had a way to look up when and where my father was baptized. He believed that he was "either the last one at the old church or the first at the new one" but being so long ago, I'd really like to have a record of where it was! You can read his words here: starman.vertcomp.com/lit/life/1.htm Is there a map anywhere showing where the "Old No. 3" and "Painter's Addition" sections of town are located (boundaries)? Daniel B. This post is for Stephanie Daniel Bunton: Please contact me using the email address you'll find on my web site here: starman.vertcomp.com/FF.html If you read the previous post here, you'll find your Grandfather mentioned in my Dad's book as being the person he was named after! And therefore, my first name comes from your last name! Sincerely, Daniel B. Sedory
